Miniature Coffee Table and Lamp Supplies

With only the items shown (plus a bit of glue and paint) you can craft the cute miniature dollhouse coffee table and one of the miniature lamps like that shown in the inset.

These are very easy arts and crafts projects, and quite suitable as a kid crafts. And most children would have a blast playing with the finished products as well.

The pieces you'll need for the table are:
  • A 5/8" dowel cap.
  • A 2" long wooden oval.
  • A 1/2" wooden square.

  • For each lamp, you'll need:
  • A 5/8" diameter wooden flower pot.
  • A 5/8" diameter wooden ball with center hole.
  • A 1/2" diameter wooden ball with center hole.
  • A 3/4" to 1" diameter wooden disc.
  • A 3/8" to 1/2" diameter wooden disc.
  • A 2 1/2" length of 1/8" dowel.
  • I get most of these parts out of wood shape assortments. They give me all the shapes I need, and often picking through the various shapes gives me inspiration for new craft projects.

The Girl Doll would love this furniture, as well as the Doll House that it would fit in so well.

You can find additional minature furniture, a wishing well, and a gazebo in my book: Judy's Easy Craft Projects.

    Making the Miniature Coffee Table

The dollhouse coffee table is very easy to construct.

Glue the wooden oval on top of the dowel cap as shown.

If you want the wooden square used to decorate the center of the wood craft table to be the same color as the table, you can glue it centered on the oval now.

If you wish the square to be a different color than the table, it's easier to paint the table first, then add the square.

    Assembling a Miniature Lamp

Other than cutting the lengths of dowel, these parts are already the proper size. So construction is a simple matter of gluing them together.

For the dollhouse lamps, glue an inverted craft wooden flower pot to a 2 1/2" length of dowel.

Then put some glue on the lower end of the dowel and run it through first the smaller wooden ball, then the larger wooden ball.

Glue the small wooden disc to the bottom of the large wooden ball.

Finally, glue the larger wooden disc to the bottom of the lamp assembly.

Now you have a fine looking miniature dollhouse lamp, needing only paint to be ready for dollhouse play or display.

In the supplies inset, I showed two lamps. Depending upon your dollhouse or intended purpose, you may want more than one lamp also.

    Decorating the Table and Lamp(s)

The image at left shows a completed wood craft table with a pair of lamps. In this case, the square on the center of the table is a different color than the table itself, and thus was glued on after painting the table.

The lamps are simply painted in matching colors, you can use your imagination as you desire.

    Combine with Other Crafts

Here's a nice little furniture miniature arrangement made by combining the love seat wood crafting project with the table and lamp project.

Can't you see the lovely ensemble of these dollhouse furniture miniatures adorning your make believe habitat?

If you didn't make the love seat project, maybe you want to reconsider.
